Supporting Families
The Family Empowerment Network (FEN)
FEN is a resource, referral, support, and research program serving families affected by fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) and the providers who serve them. FEN's mission is simple, to empower families through education and support. Members of the Family Empowerment Network include birth and adoptive parents, foster care providers, grandparents, siblings, individuals affected by FASD, extended family members, and the providers who work with these families. The project is funded by the State of Wisconsin, Division of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

FEN is an affiliate of the National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (NOFAS).

Project goals include the following:
  1. To increase awareness about the issues surrounding FASD and provide general education to families, providers, and the general public.
  2. To conduct research in the area of FASD, and FASD-related family issues.
  3. To offer support and referrals to families.
  4. To provide technical assistance for providers and agencies.
  5. To network with families, family support groups, and providers on a state and national level.
